DOMESTIC INTERMODAL SERVICE
In 1997, 350 trains were accomplished on the route that joins Bari to the port of Gioia Tauro and the
port of Naples.
Today, 9 years later, more than 1500 trains a year are running on domestic and international operations
on this same route.
The combined G.T.S. operation distinguishes itself from that of other intermodal operators as it offers,
apart from the railway tracks: a door to door service with G.T.S. swap bodies at the clients disposition
that are suitable for the type of goods to be loaded, hauling buffer service at departure and arrival
points, booking management, and a good working relationship with the shipper; therefore an all inclusive
formula, with the possibility of ad hoc variations studied to accomodate each client. There are two
types of services offered on the domestic routes:
The maritime
combined transport
Dedicated to the transport of containers from Bari to the docks of Salerno and Gioia Tauro: being one
of the most important in the Mediterranean and from here it is possible to reach all destinations of
the globe. From here direct relationships are maintained as well with the navigation companies for the
management of bookings, demurrage, etc.
- The domestic combined transport
Offered to both container and swap body users. The connections are those that join the South with
Middle and North Italy that then allows redirections to the rest of Europe (METTERE LINK time table).
The particular terminal points of reference are Bari, Piacenza and Nola. The clients have the option
to load their own containers or swap bodies or can use those of the G.T.S. fleet and depending on the
type of goods.
INTERNATIONAL INTERMODAL SERVICE
Why should you not worry about anything when you entrust your goods to G.T.S.?
Because you are dealing with a leading intermodal company that offers a unique service following
European standards, integrated with innovative technologies of combined transport and a punctual
"door to door" service.
We like to refer to our service as "problem free".
But what does door to door mean?
It means offering the client with a whole series of activities that complete the chain of transport
inclusive of supplying suitable swap bodies for individual types of goods and the direct management
throughout all phases of transport. Should the client have their own swap bodies then G.T.S. proposes
itself as public operator on the market, offering only terminal services, road and rail hauling; all
depending on the specific needs of the client.
- We organise railway routes with shuttle services without intermediate stops.
- Our offices are present within the terminals for on site management.
- We handle the activities of trucking to and from each terminal.
- We organize the bookings with the consignees of the goods and then execute them with flexibility
based on the needs of the single or multiple discharges.
- We handle all documents, CMRs, PODs, CODs, etc.
- We are able to manage important traffic currents with our fleet of new swap bodies High Cube, Box
and Tilted.
Strategic points of the G.T.S. net system are:
London, Manchester, Genk, Zeebrugge, Piacenza, Nola and Bari.
Through these terminals we are able to expand into the influential areas of: The United Kingdom and
Republic of Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Northern Germany, all of Italy, Greece, the Balkan States and
Turkey for traffic flows to and from these regions.
Just one example: the Bari-Manchester train connects the two cities in 48 hours and guarantees an A - C
deliveries.
