G.T.S S.p.A was born more than thirty years ago, from the experience that was matured
in the world of transportation by Mr Nicola Muciaccia, who foresaw that intermodalisation,
in its many forms was the future of transportation.
Time has proved this judgement to be correct and that his distant intuition of the past, is now the
reality of today.
While travelling through the roads of Italy and Europe, in the areas where trucks compete with
trains, it is not uncommon to meet up with an all blue train, more than half a kilometre long that
is laden with dozens of swap body containers.
To date G.T.S has accomplished more than 1,400 complete trains on various domestic and international
routes, thus enabling the pool of swap bodies to grow to 1000 units.
The Head Office is located in Bari Italy, and boasts a dynamic, modern and forward thinking company
structure, where the average age of the employees does not currently exceed thirty five.
G.T.S likes to define itself as a company of values, with high levels of productivity, high quality
standards and continuity throughout the company, thus enabling all employees feel a part of the company
culture, not only as a way of working but it also offers the chance to personally grow and progress.
A main priority for G.T.S is the absolute respect for the environment and by utilising the rail
network this shows to have an immense benefit on the environment by reducing of some of the negative
effects, lowering pollution, road traffic accidents and road congestions, bearing in mind that 70,000
trucks are currently withdrawn from the roads each year.
Customer care is a term used generally in todays market place, but it is one of the fundamental
principals all GTS employees uphold. We understand that by caring for our clients requests it is a
determining factor for ensuring their future by investing in the continuity
of the working relationship. For G.T.S the success of our clients means growing together in a relationship,
not only made of demand and offer for transport, but in a constant and continued search for integration,
which will inevitably bring a maximum reciprocal improvement of the resources.
G.T.S proposes itself to its clients not only as a ‘transporter’ but as a logistics
partner ready to meet the needs of companies of any dimension.
Being the third largest operator in Italy for volume, the principal activity carried out by G.T.S is
M.T.O (Multimodal Transport Operator). In addition to operating complete trains that connect Bari to the
ports of Salerno and Gioia Tauro, there are daily trains that converge on the Piacenza
hub uniting Great Britain and Belgium with Northern
and Southern Italy. These services are also utilised by third party clients where G.T.S
has the facility to offer a ‘Terminal to Terminal’ service to the user.
Located in Piacenza is an operative/commercial office that ensures smooth transits to and from the
North of Italy, it is in Piacenza that arrangements are also made to transit the goods to the subsidiary
branch, G.T.S Rail and Logistics located in Manchester, it is here that all the imports/exports are
handled for Great Britain.
Goods arriving in Bari from the North can be dispatched to Greece, Turkey and the Balkan States with
the use of the Ro.Ro. vessels.
The core of G.T.S business is to offer a ‘door to door’ service to all our clients,
by utilising company owned swap bodies, guaranteeing punctuality and through the direct control of our
levers, the trains, the terminals, the road transport facility, of which all are carefully monitored by
our local offices, we can present a quality service that is second to none.
Please note that the clients that use the terminal to terminal service are also guaranteed to receive
first class service.
A total of three terminals are managed in Bari, two of these are utilised for the production of G.T.S
owned trains (also producing trains for other M.T.O’s), the other terminal is utilised as a feeder as
the ships port terminal. B.C.T S.r.l.
Transport of the future passes through the integration of various types of eco-compatible
transport, which will mean having less to do with petroleum and roads, therefore intermodalisation will
continue to be a viable market in which G.T.S has been a leader for years.
