Gts Rail

The GTS Rail is the railway company belonging to the group of GTS S.p.A. .

The company holds the license No. 50 in February 2008 and the safety certificate in October 2009.

After more than two years of preparatory work, finally, in January 2010, started the first trains.
GTS has made an investment of over € 12mln which has allowed the company to buy 3 new latest generation electric locomotives TRAXX483 of the Canadian Bombardier, the largest producer in the world, and to obtain a high professionalism of our staff thanks to several training courses preparatory to the allocation of all the needed entitlements.

In the initial phase 50 units have been employed, combining the right mix of enthusiasm of young railroad already equipped with many years of experience, with thirty years of expertise of our senior railwaymen.
In 2010, on the two links Bari Piacenza and Bari Gioia Tauro, GTS will pull trains for over 500.000 km..
A remarkable result for a start-up that places the GTS RAIL among the top five Italian private railway companies.

GTS RAIL borns with the conviction that in Italy the demand for rail transport in the coming years will constantly grow, in contrast with economic cycles, thanks to the combination of three factors:

• The gradual reduction of the incumbent presence in the market
• Increasing demand for rail transport
• The social need for a modal balance between road and rail, with the removal of negative externalities.
